Q&A with Salina South’s Sydney Anderes – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by WSU Tech

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

Some of my goals for this year include maintaining a 4.0 GPA and getting accepted to play
volleyball at a college.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

The most fun I had would be my family vacation in Florida. We spent 5 nights in Pensacola
and got to spend time together at the beach for those five days.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

My favorite teacher would have to be Mrs. Chamberlin. She was my junior chemistry teacher
and taught really well and made me enjoy chemistry. She always made sure every student
understood what was going on during class.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory would have to be during volleyball season this year. We went
15-23, beating our record from last by 2 wins. This was huge for us as we made this a goal
before the season started.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

The teammate who left the biggest impression on me was Peyton Froome. She was one of
the first people who comforted me during my freshman year playing varsity. She knew I was
nervous at first, but brought me out of my comfort zone. She was a player who wanted every
single ball and always gave her best effort.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part of being on this team is the positivity and effort everyone put in. Everyone
tried their hardest and kept a positive attitude which made the season really fun.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and
who do you take with you?

I would go to Bora Bora with my family. Bora Bora is a beautiful place and would be a great
spot to visit with my family.

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what
would you spend it on?

I would probably take my two younger brothers shopping with me.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

I do relay for life through school. I have also donated my blood at the blood drive many
times. I also babysit for young couples who want to have time to themselves.

VYPE: Are you involved in academic excellence activities such as the National
Honor Society, Student Council, or other academic clubs?

I am not involved in any academic activities or clubs, but I am involved in HOSA. This is a
medical club, where we work the blood drives at school, help with activities outside of school
to help people.
