Salina Central’s Dontai Martinez – eSports Athlete Spotlight – Presented by JAB IT

Salina Centrals Dontai Martinez has set his sights on a few major goals this year. “My biggest goal was to get back into content creation/streaming and doing it consistently because I absolutely love the fact that I could be someone’s entertainment when they have nothing else to do. My other big one was to make the Rogue Masters LAN tournament in Las Vegas for the game Rogue Company.”

Currently, Martinez is involved in the “CGC (Central Gaming Club) and eSports.”

“I joined these two because video games are more than just playing the game for me. It’s more of a way to escape from all of my problems and enjoy new ways to hang out with my friends.”

Among Martinez’s friends in the eSports community is the person he told VYPE has made the biggest impact on him. Saying, “This has to go to one of my teammates for the 2022 Fall Season for PlayVS.”

“Aaron Waite originally showed absolutely no potential, but after being put on a roster with him and getting to know him, he showed me that no matter who you are, you have whatever it takes to be something great. He started from being a Lower ranked player to make it all the way up to the Higher rankings in just ONE season.”

“The great thing about him is I get to be the one to say I worked with him personally and helped him to be what he is now.”

Martinez clearly enjoys looking out for his teammates wherever possible. When we offered him 500 hypothetical dollars, he told us he’d “spend the whole day getting new controllers, headsets, and whatever my team needs. I try to help my team as much as possible so they can achieve their highest potential.”
