The term Dynamic Duo is an understatement when it comes to two Salina Central state-qualifying wrestlers. One of whom is Alison Coykendall who we spoke to about her athletic experience at SC when she told us her favorite memory.
Alison told VYPE “Qualifying for state wrestling” with her teammate Amelia “was such an amazing and exciting accomplishment.”
Coykendall went on to say “but getting to do it with my sister and best friend made it even better.” That’s right, not only are Alison & Amelia teammates, but they are also sisters, and more than that they’re two members of a set of triplets.
This was Alison and Amelia’s first year to participate in their school wrestling program while the other member of their trio (Alex) chose to partake in bowling.
Alison shared with us that the teammate who had the biggest impact on her is “probably my sister and wrestling partner, Amelia. She is always pushing me to be stronger and is my motivation to work hard on the mat.”
In regards to the rest of her team, Coykendall says “Our coach Charles Black is not only an amazing coach but an awesome person. He is always making practice a fun and positive experience. He sets up the positive attitude and culture we are building for the Salina Central Women’s Wrestling team.”
An attitude Alison is striving to replicate throughout the year as she aims to ” be kinder to myself, through all of the wins and losses & up and downs.”
