Salina Central’s Charlene Arrieta-Renteria: Athlete Spotlight – Presented by WSU Tech

Salina’s Charlene Arrieta-Renteria plans to attend Brigham Young University in the fall and begin work toward her Pre-Law major. But before that happens she plans to revel in the “endless support” of her teammates. Sharing “They coach me so I can be the best athlete I can be. I also super appreciate that no one makes me feel bad for joining track as a senior.”

Despite (what some might call) her late start Renteria was able to PR “at a Varsity track meet with 7′ in pole vault.” Something she nows says is her favorite athletic memory.

Outside of athletics Renteria is “lead Alto in the Jazz band” as well as “president of the Environmental Club, Vice President of the Spanish Club and first chair flute in symphonic band.” She is also an “active member of my school’s chapter of National Honor Society and co-captain of the Varsity Scholars Bowl team. ” As an added bonus, Renteria also volunteers her time at the Salina Food Bank.

And while she is hard at work on all of that she tells VYPE she is also dreaming of taking a vacation to Mexico to “visit a lot of my family.”
