Salina Souths Carson Powers – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by WSU Tech

Salina Souths Carson Powers has some major goals in mind saying he hopes “to break the bench squat and hang clean record at my school in the 181 weight class.”

These goals come as no surprise given what Powers shared next. Telling VYPE “I love being the underdog. This team has a losing past and we have no expectations to be great. So this only makes me want to work harder and show the world what we can do. My team also has a younger demographic, so I must be a great role model for a lot of these guys.”

A young team is something that Powers has become accustomed to as he informed us his “8th grade football was my favorite athletic memory. We had a winning season finally after the previous year having a losing one, mainly due to our team being young. Seeing all of us grow over that summer and fall and be able to actually compete with teams really felt great.”

Knowing the way he speaks about the sport, his desire to spend his hypothetical money on new gear only further encompassed his devotion to the game. Expressing that if VYPE was to give him $500 he would spend it as follows. “I would start by getting some nice football gear, being undershirts, cleats, gloves, and accessories. Then I would get some new gym gear like preworkout, lifting belt, and new beats.”
