Q&A with Ell-Saline’s Ryder Dent: Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Kaniper Agency

By: Angela Brunk

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

Football wise, I would like to have 140 tackles, 10 tfl’s and a couple interceptions.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

The most fun I had this last year during football season was our game against Lincoln. I logged 20 tackles and our team played well together. It was a fun win to end our regular season.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

My favorite teacher is Mr. Roche. Not only is he my history teacher, but our football coach as well. He pushes me to do better on and off the field.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Don’t get me wrong I love football, but winning the state high school rodeo steer wrestling title my sophomore year was pretty cool.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Hunter Holmgren, he tore his ACL last season and is working his tail off to come back better than before, his senior year. He’s a great friend, and we push each other daily in the weight room.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

The atmosphere and intensity! From weights/film sessions, daily practice to Friday night games, this team shows up and supports each other 💯. The locker room before a game is indescribable!

Also, our small town support is amazing. Very rarely do you see an empty seat at a home game. It’s fun to see everyone and hear the crowd.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

A summer vacation to Mexico with my friends sounds like a good time.

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

$500 in 24 hrs, I’d probably spend it on my truck.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

I try to volunteer my time assisting with Brookville community projects. Our local youth group has spent time in the past cleaning up around town.
