Salina South’s Hanna Householter – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Farm Bureau Financial Services

Salina South’s volleyball team is not lacking leadership from their only senior Hanna Householter. “This season I am really looking forward to having a leadership role for the team.” Householter is not only looking forward to her leadership role this season, but also specific games. “ I am definitely excited for our pink out game and fundraiser because that game always has so much support and high energy from the fans and parents.”

Householter plays both middle hitter and right side hitter and spent time almost daily at the gym improving her game. “Over the offseason I went to our school’s camp and also our team tournament at Washburn. We also had practices, open gym, and weights almost every day of the week.”

With all this practice, Householter has seen improvement in her game. “ I am proud of the improvements that I have made in the past year to earn a varsity spot and to be a leader on the team this coming year.” Householter’s growth mindset shows in her goal for team improvement. “My main goal for the team and for myself is just to improve.” Specific goals mentioned from Householter was an improvement in the team record from last year. She also told VYPE, “We want to start winning some of those close games that haven’t gone our way in the past.”

Householter also participates in soccer for Salina South and on a club team. She is involved with Kilt Krew and STUCO at Salina South as well. After high school graduation, Householter plans to attend Fort Hays State University where she will major in Biology Pre-Med. Her plan will lead her to nursing school where she hopes to become a Registered Nurse.
