Salina Central senior golfer, Cindric White, cherishes her role as the elder statesman and leader of the Mustangs’ golf team.
White’s season ended with a first-day exit from state, but her positive attitude is what really stands out, as her comments about not making it to the second-day show: “It was unfortunate, but I was very proud of myself for getting there and for placing 10th at regionals.”
White was also very happy with the fact that she shot a personal best score of 93 and consistently shot sub-100s. But more than anything, White is most proud of the impression that she is leaving on the program and on her teammates. “I am excited that I left a legacy and was a person the other girls on the golf team looked up to. I am sad to leave them all but I am happy that they found an interest in something new.”
The care for her teammates is evident from White’s statements. In light of her words, her plans for the future should come as no surprise. White does not necessarily plan to play golf at the next level. She does plan to attend K-State University where she would like to study secondary education. A future in education working with and guiding the next generation seems quite appropriate. Looking back on her career with Central’s golf team, White reflects, “We did not have a complete team this season (or last), but I am very proud of my girls and how they improved this season.”
Besides golf, Cindric also participates in girls’ wrestling and swimming. She is involved with STUCO and French Club and has additionally received the Triple Crown Athlete Award and the Honors Award.
