Salina South’s Franklin Figueroa Ramirez – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by The Alley

The boys’ soccer team at Salina South has a standout player in Franklin Alexander Figueroa Ramirez. With 11 regular season wins for The Cougars, Figueroa Ramirez has been a driving force for this team’s wins. Playing the position of wing, Figueroa Ramirez is only a junior and will be back again next year to continue showing his presence for this outstanding soccer team. A goal Figueroa Ramirez had for his team this year was to reach regionals. A feat now accomplished by The Cougars.

Franklin Ramirez shared with VYPE Magazine that his personal goal is to give as many assists in games as he can. His goal for the team is to win the games. With all the W’s posted during the season by The Cougars, this could only lead to good things for the post-season.

To prepare for this upcoming season, Franklin Ramirez has been playing club soccer for the past two years for a Salina team. His club team practices year-round, giving him constant practice and improvement for his game. During the game against the town rival Salina Central, Franklin Ramirez scored his first goal. Something he was proud to share. Another piece Franklin Ramirez told VYPE was how much he enjoys his team. “I’ve gotten to know my teammates better this year. They are my best friends.”

On the weekends, Franklin Ramirez can be found working at a restaurant. Between school, sports, and work, Franklin Ramirez keeps a busy schedule. After high school graduation, Franklin Ramirez is looking toward the future. His dream is to become a professional soccer player. Although he knows how difficult it can be to get into professional soccer, he is also considering the Army.
