Evan Bogart, a senior standout for Salina Sacred Heart football, said his goal coming into the year was to improve physically. “In the off-season, I really focused on getting stronger and quicker. I think we do a great job with our weights program and we have some great camps we attend,” Bogart said. A multi-sport athlete, also playing basketball and baseball, Bogart was able to have success on the gridiron, being a four-year starter and all-league selection.
Even though Sacred Heart’s season did not go as well as he hoped. Bogart found positives. “I believe the season has gone well. While our record may not show it we have played some very good teams very tough with lots of underclassmen playing a big role,” he said.
The Knights did face a tough schedule, with their opponents having a combined 48-37 record. Bogart’s assessment of the season focused on the team’s excelling through adversity. saying “I feel like we have battled all season. Especially through injuries to key players early in the season. We have learned to adapt and mold quickly with different players.”
After high school, Bogart plans to play baseball but is unsure of his destination.
