Q&A with Salina South’s Dawson Dooley – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Larissa Silva

Q: What are your personal goals for the year?
A: My personal goals for the remainder of this year are to continue growing my physical and academic skills to hopefully set myself up for success after high school.

Q: What is your favorite athletic memory?
A: My favorite athletic memories so far have been all the team dinners and spending time with teammates and coaches. As well as beating Central in baseball.

Q: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
A: The teammate that has made the largest impact on me has been my friend Drew Emerson. We’ve played football and baseball together since elementary school and for the last seven years we have been playing alongside each other in the secondary and wide receiver core. Drew and I are always the first to smack talk each other but we are always on the same page and making each other better.

Q: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
A: My favorite part of this team is the relationship between players and coaches.

Q: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
A: Another group I am involved in besides Football and baseball is FCA.

Q: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
A: Sports have taught me that the lessons you learn while at practice, in games, or just hanging out with friends will be more important and more memorable than wins or losses or stats.

Q: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
A: The best advice I have ever received is that lions shouldn’t care about what sheep have to say. To me this means you shouldn’t let people who aren’t in your position and aren’t willing to do what you do, affect you.

Q: Who inspires you and why?
A: Someone who inspires me is coach Smith. He always has something positive to say and everything he says he relates to the real world.
