Salina South’s Alex Davidson – Athlete Spotlight Presented By American Family Insurance, Jeff Wells

By Hayden Swope

Alex Davidson, a multi-talented student athlete at Salina South, is involved in numerous things, and proves his abilities on and off the field.

“Outside of football, I also play catcher for our varsity baseball team and am involved in Student Council, and participate in Relay for Life each year,” Davidson said.

Playing smart football is something Davidson has worked to improve on all season, as well as being the best leader to the best of his ability all throughout the season.

“A couple of goals I have focused on this season are being a good leader and role model for the underclassmen and improving as a player overall,” Davidson said. “As for the postseason I would like to go as far as possible and make a run for multiple playoff games. “Physicality is a main focus not just for me but as a team overall. Understanding that football is 80 percent mindset and 20 percent physical ability has been an idea we have preached since the start of the season and is something I’ve carried into each game.”

Davidson’s favorite memory from the season has to be one of the biggest plays he’s made so far, and against Salina South’s favorite rival.

“The most memorable moment of this season so far was when I sacked our crosstown rival’s quarterback and watched our sideline and student section erupt,” Davidson said.

Education will take Davidson to either Lawrence or Manhattan next year, with plans of majoring in architecture.

“Next year I plan on majoring in architecture at either the University of Kansas or Kansas State university,” Davidson said.
