Salina South is prepared to have another great golf season, and senior Maddox Xaysongkham is going to be a part of this greatness. Last year Salina South won Regionals and headed to State as a team. An accomplishment Xaysongkham is proud to have been a part of. As a team, Salina South would like to win Regionals again, and Xaysongkham would like to help his team accomplish this task. At State, the goal for the team is to advance to day two.

To prepare for this upcoming season and goals, Xaysongkham spent time in the offseason getting ready for his final year as a Cougar by spending time in the gym to build strength and endurance. There were many golf tournaments around the area Xaysongkham participated in throughout the year. In addition to tournaments and gym time, Xaysongkham spent time practicing his game both on the course and in his basement working on fundamentals.

After all this practice time spent during the offseason, Xaysongkham will have no regrets going into his senior season of golf. “This season I am looking forward to growing as a team and finishing my senior year strong and with no regrets.” A personal goal Xaysongkham set for himself is to improve his game and continue to shoot better than the previous year. In addition to these goals, Xaysongkham hopes to place in the league meet.

After graduation in just a few short weeks, Xaysongkham plans to attend Fort Hays State University in the fall with the hope of continuing a golf career. He plans to major in business and use his degree to secure a golf related profession.
