Salina Central’s Kassandra Galaviz – Soccer Spotlight – Presented by Farm Bureau Financial Services- Timothy VanDonge

Senior soccer player Kassandra Galaviz can be utilized anywhere on the soccer field, but has lately been focusing her skills more on playing midfield. Galaviz plays soccer for the Salina Central Mustangs, and The Mustangs want to improve on their season from last year. The Mustangs set a team goal to do better than the year before not only as a team but as individuals. Galaviz told Vype Magazine this year looks promising in meeting that goal.

As a leader of the team, Galaviz wants to build the team by making connections with all of the players on the team and especially the players younger than her. Although she wants to improve as a player, she really wants to take in all the things her senior year and make memories with all her friends and teammates.

Galaviz spends a lot of time outside of the school season playing soccer. During the offseason, she plays soccer for a club team called FC Soccer. Salina Central coach, Alvarado, hosts a soccer camp during the summer which Galaviz always attends. If someone asked Galaviz what she does in her free time, her answer would most likely be to play soccer for fun.

After graduation in the spring, Galaviz plans to attend Fort Hays State University in the fall and major in Elementary Education with a dream of becoming a fourth-grade teacher. In addition to soccer, Galaviz is vice president for Spanish Club and a Senior Class Representative. She has also been in orchestra for the last eight years.
