“This sport has been a big part of my life since before I can remember, and I just want to have fun with my friends and make memories,” Josten Fischer, a senior from Salina South told Vype Magazine. Fischer plays left center-back for South’s girls soccer team. Fischer really hopes to make memories and enjoy her last year as a high school athlete. This year, South’s players have a better connection than the past few years and the team is hoping to improve their chemistry. The team has also set the goal of winning six games during the season.
During the fall season, Fischer was part of the cross country team which helped improve her endurance and helped her to stay in shape for soccer season. While not in high school soccer season, Fischer has been a part of soccer teams from both McPherson and Salina. During the summer months, Fischer played 7 v 7 soccer and participated in training sessions.
Something Fischer shared with Vype Magazine is since her sophomore year, she played nearly every minute of every game during high school soccer. This is something Fischer can be proud of and shows the importance of her presence on the field.
Besides just soccer, Fischer stays plenty busy with other activities. In addition to all the soccer she plays, she has been on South’s cross county team, Writing Center, Student Council, National Honor Society, and Relay for Life. She is also a volunteer at Prairieland Market. After graduation this May, Fischer plans to attend Kansas State University in the fall to major in architectural engineering.
