Southeast of Saline’s Cayden Walker – Track Spotlight – Presented by Timothy VanDonge – Farm Bureau Financial Services

The senior Cayden Walker from Southeast of Saline is competing in his final year of high school track and field. Walker also competes in the fall season of cross country for the high school. He shared with Vype Magazine he placed 8th place at the state cross country meet. He was proud of this success because this was his highest place at a state level meet.

Walker is looking forward to the state meet that is held at Wichita State the last weekend in May. To prepare for the spring track season, Walker competed in cross country in the fall. In addition to running for the high school cross country team, Walker ran with a group called The Winter Soldiers, a running group in Salina. During Walker’s time with The Winter Soldier, he competed in two indoor races. One of them was at Pitt State and the second race was at Northwest Missouri State.

Besides placing well at the state meet, Walker would like to be named all-state in as many events as possible. Walker will be competing in the 1600m at state and is currently ranked 14th in the event going into state. In the 3200m, Walker is ranked 12th going into the state meet.

In the fall, Walker will move on to his next adventure. Walker will be attending Park University to major in criminal justice and eventually work for the Kansas Highway Patrol. Not only will Walker be studying criminal justice, but he will also be continuing his running career for Park University.
