Salina Sacred Heart golfer Ben Marrs isn’t one of those guys you will find grinding on the range hour after hour.
Instead, Marrs has his own preference for how to improve his game.
“I spent most of my time last summer getting out and playing as much golf as possible,” Marrs said. “My favorite way to work on my game is to simply go out and play. There is no secret sauce, just going out and striving to make each day better than the last.”
Marrs took seventh at the NCAA Tournament last season, while also placing 10th at regionals and 18th at state. He maintained a scoring average of 85.
The Knights won their 10th straight state championship.
Those are all accomplishments Marrs hopes to either surpass or maintain this season.
“Individually, I want to consistently shoot in the low eighties,” Marrs said. “My goal for the team is to win our eleventh straight state championship and end my high school golf career on a high note.”
While Marrs certainly had a successful 2025 season, he knows there is still an area of his game that needs improvement.
“A weakness in my game is maintaining composure when things don’t go according to plan,” Marrs said. “Hitting bad shots, missing putts, even playing so well I get so excited and just collapse. One of the ways I work on my composure is to put myself into pressure situations and respond with composure.”
