Salina South’s Paul Hawksworth – Bowler Of The Month Presented By The Alley

By Matt Browning

Salina South’s Paul Hawksworth was one of the most consistent bowlers for the Cougars last season, with multiple top ten finishes and being selected second team all-league.

At the state tournament, he placed 40th and considering he started bowling as a freshman, Hawksworth’s resume is impressive.

“This season I’m most excited for seeing the culmination of the work I’ve put into bowling throughout high school,” Hawksworth said. “Since I didn’t start bowling until my freshman year of high school, It’s been awesome to see how far I’ve come in three years and I want to see how far I can go this year.”

Hawksworth focused a few drills throughout the offseason in order to improve in some areas of his game.

“I’m wanting to improve most on my spare shooting as well as my technique,” Hawksworth said. “I’ve worked on these areas by doing balance drills while bowling or setting up/imaging specific spares to pick up and practicing those spares until I am comfortable picking them up consistently.”

While Hawksworth does not plan on pursuing athletics in college, he still wants them to be a part of his life.

“I don’t plan on participating in varsity sports in college, but I will continue athletics recreationally,” Hawksworth said. “I also want to work in the sports analytics field with the hopes of being a statistician for an MLB team.”
