SE Of Saline’s Chance Ptacek – Coach Of The Month Presented By Salina Regional Orthopedic Clinic

By Matt Browning

Chance Ptacek is in his 14th season as an assistant football coach at Southeast of Saline. He has also had a variety of other coaching responsibilities while with the Trojans.

“I really feel that what makes Southeast of Saline so special is that the sense of ‘community’ is centralized around our students and their activities,” Ptacek said. “The pride and support shown to our school and students from multiple surrounding communities is really unique.”

The most impactful part of Ptacek’s time at Southeast of Saline has nothing to do with sports.

“Probably the most life-impacting memory I have is that of meeting my now wife at Southeast of Saline,” Ptacek said. “I was an assistant junior high basketball coach and she was coaching my youngest sister in volleyball and softball.”

While Ptacek would not necessarily turn down the right head coaching job, he is happy and content being a Trojan.

“I would have to say that if the right opportunity at Southeast of Saline came about I would certainly consider it,” Ptacek said. “We are currently in year nine of having the same high school football coaching staff, all of whom teach at Southeast of Saline. We preach ‘111’ to our players which in a nutshell means that each player does their job and also trusts their teammates to do theirs. Our coaches follow the same motto and I absolutely love my role on our staff. “
