Trevon Cole of Salina Central was voted a linebacker poll winner. Cole is ready to take the field as a senior and get to lead the Mustangs this season.
“I am feeling great about this upcoming season,” Cole said. “We lost a lot of seniors this last year, a great class that was in front of us and now our class and the upcoming juniors need to step up.”
Cole has been training and putting in work any time he can, hoping to make a big impact on the field.
“I’ve been preparing for this upcoming season by working in the weight room, eating right, and doing extra when I can,” Cole said. “I would say a weakness I want to improve would be defending the pass and getting more reps on offense.”
Preparing for his senior year, Cole looked back on his past years and how they’ve all led up to this season.
“One thing I took away from past years is that defense is really the backbone of a team and wins you games as we had one of the top defenses in our league and won a lot of games by being able to hold teams to lower scores,” Cole said.
After graduation, Cole has a desire to continue his athletic and academic careers.
“My future plans are to go to a solid college, get an education, play football and see how far I can go with that, and to stay around the sport,” Cole said.
