SE-Saline outside hitter Lexi Jacobson will be with her team for one more season with big goals in mind. The team goal is to make it to state. Jacobson also set a personal goal. “A personal goal I have for myself this season is to be smarter with my ball placement. I am undersized so I will need to see the court better and find the holes even if it’s not a hard hit ball every time.”
Jacobson is most looking forward to the tournament hosted by her team. “There is a great deal of competition and it is fun to be challenged on our home court. We haven’t had the greatest track record at our home tournament, but we plan on changing that this year.” To prepare herself for this season’s volleyball competition, Jacobson has been using her time in the offseason doing workouts that target agility, speed, and strength. “Within each of these workouts we have been challenging ourselves to be mentally tough and to push when we feel like we can’t go any further.”
Over the past three years, Jacobson has put up some pretty impressive stats including 638 kills, 719 digs, and 59 aces. Although Jacobson has lots to be proud of individually, she is most proud of her team’s ability to work together and improve as a whole. “I am more proud of what we have been able to accomplish as a team and will be able to accomplish as a team than any of my personal stats and accomplishments.”
Jacobson keeps a busy schedule by playing both basketball and softball during their seasons. She is also a student council president, an NHS member, and an active member of Science Club. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Kansas following a pre-med track.
